Emeril Lagasse Followed His Dream... BAM!!!

"If you don't follow your dream, who will?" - Emeril Lagasse, world-renowned chef, author, businessman, and TV personality
Dream, when you're feelin' blue
Dream, that's the thing to do
Just watch the smoke rings rise in the air
You'll find your share of memories there
So, dream when the day is through
Dream, and they might come true
Things never are as bad as they seem
So dream, dream, dream
The song “Dream” was written by Johnny Mercer in 1944 and recorded the following year by the Pied Pipers (with lead singer June Hutton), and Frank Sinatra (backed by the Axel Stordahl Orchestra). Both versions became instant hits.
When I was a young boy, I had two dreams: to be a professional baseball player and President of the United States. Gradually, those ambitions evolved into becoming general manager of a baseball team and some sort of political officeholder.
Fast forward to 1987, and I became the founder and executive director of The Saints Prison Ministry, America’s first athletic prison ministry. Go a little farther into the future – or is it the past – to 2008 and I won the Republican primary for the U.S. House of Representatives in New Jersey’s 1st congressional district. I repeated that primary win in 2010 but never managed to get over the hump in the general election.
Oh well, at least I followed two of my childhood dreams as far as they would take me… and God would allow. Now, at age 66, my “dream” is to finish strong for Him by being the best husband, father, “Papa”, and minister I can possibly be (and I also want to visit Scotland).
How about you, my friend? What long dormant dreams need to be awakened in your life? My advice is to pray about them… and then if God gives you the “go ahead”, pursue them with all the energy and resolve you can muster.
“Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 (BSB)
