In today’s quote, Charles Spurgeon provides an answer to an age-old question: How do I know that I am saved and on my way to heaven?
According to the “Prince of Preachers”, one indication is that you have willingly, joyfully, and genuinely trusted Jesus as your Savior. Another clear sign of your salvation is that your faith in Christ is simultaneously real and childlike. In other words, there is no hint of pretense or guile.
Finally, Spurgeon adds that if you are depending solely on Jesus for your salvation – and not a combination of faith and works – then chances are you are a true child of God.
My friend, there will always be days when you don’t “feel saved” or “act saved” but thankfully, our salvation doesn’t depend on our emotions or our actions. We are saved because of what Jesus did on Calvary’s cross, nothing more and nothing less. When we realize that simple truth and accept it at face value, He truly becomes “all our desire”.
