What Is YOUR Most Prized Possession?

“The stability of righteousness brings relief and encouragement.” – Rev. Gary Hayden
What do you consider your most prized possession? Is it your house, your car, or some treasured family heirloom?
How about your spouse, your kids, or your grandchildren? I realize that people aren’t possessions, but we certainly value them highly and rightfully so. Some people may even include their pets when it comes to naming things we cherish the most.
What about your health, which is something we often take for granted until we lose it? And I am sure that virtually every Christian would put their salvation at the top of their list.
My own personal list would include my salvation, Deanna, our six kids (three biological and three by marriage), and our six precious grandchildren as well as my many friends and extended family members. At this stage of my life, material things really don’t matter that much to me, but relationships sure do. So do my ministry, my church, my country, and my conscience.
That’s right, something we often overlook is the value of a clear conscience. I am far from a perfect man, but to the best of my knowledge I don’t have any unconfessed sin in my life and so, I can lay my head on my pillow at night and drift off to sleep like a baby. If you don’t believe me, just ask Deanna, who is constantly amazed at my ability to fall asleep quickly and remain that way throughout the night.
Of course, being 80% deaf in one ear helps me sleep soundly when the dogs are barking or there is a thunderstorm outside, but I still attribute most of it to a clear conscience.
You simply can’t put a price tag on being right with God!
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my Soul to keep;
If I should die before I 'wake,
I pray the Lord my Soul to take.
