“Jesus is knocking at your heart’s door. The greatest thing you will ever do is open it.” – Alice Cooper

Vincent Damon Furnier was born on February 4, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan. So what, you say? Never heard of him.

Well, if I told you that he legally changed his name to Alice Cooper in 1975, would that ring a bell?

Believe it or not, the “Godfather of Shock Rock” grew up in a middle-class home with a father who was an evangelist. After his family moved to Arizona when he was a teenager, Furnier formed a band named the Earwigs with four of his cross-country teammates. Despite only one band member being able to play an instrument, they won a school talent show and soon changed their name to the Spiders.

The Spiders eventually became Nazz… which became Alice Cooper… and the rest, as they say, is rock and roll history.

Over the years, Alice Cooper the band and Alice Cooper the solo artist have sold millions of albums and won dozens of awards. However, Cooper’s greatest achievement was overcoming an addiction to alcohol that at one point found him consuming two cases of beer and a bottle of whiskey per day. Cooper, who is a professing born-again Christian, credits God for his sobriety as well as for salvaging his now 49-year marriage. “I mean if He can part the Red Sea and create the universe, He can certainly take alcoholism away from somebody."

Today, Cooper plays golf six days per week as part of his sobriety program but has no plans to retire musically. In fact, he and his original bandmates are releasing their first new album together since 1973. The Revenge of Alice Cooper is set for release on July 25, 2025. Meanwhile, Cooper makes himself available 24/7 to other rock musicians who are battling substance abuse issues.

"I look at Mick Jagger,” Cooper told an interviewer recently, “and he's on an 18-month tour and he's six years older than me, so I figure, when he retires, I have six more years. I will not let him beat me when it comes to longevity."

All because Jesus knocked at the door of his heart and Alice Cooper, the creator of "School's Out" and "Welcome to My Nightmare", opened it… W-I-D-E!

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)
