The Necessity of Guidestones and Guardrails

“Unprincipled men and women, disdainful of their moral heritage and skeptical of truth itself, are destroying our civilization by weakening the very pillars upon which it rests.” – Chuck Colson
Two of Satan’s favorite lies – both of which have been gaining traction in the United States for the past several generations – are that all truth is relative and that America was founded by Deists, not Christians.
The first lie has led to the widespread acceptance of moral relativism, where everyone is encouraged to seek and adopt their own version of what is true. Without a universally acknowledged standard of truth – which for centuries has been God’s Holy Word – people are free to act as they choose with little or no repercussions. The inevitable result is immorality, anarchy, and mass chaos… which is exactly what we see happening in our inner cities today.
The second lie has been promulgated by public school teachers and college professors for the past 60 years or so in a concerted effort to undermine the Judeo-Christian principles upon which America was founded. Contrary to what these professional educators would have you to believe, the vast majority of our Founding Fathers were evangelical Christians, including John and Samuel Adams, Patrick Henry, John Hancock, John Jay, John Marshall, and Benjamin Rush. In fact, many of them attended Ivy League colleges, almost all of which were seminaries at the time.
Satan knows all too well that if he can convince people to discard their time-honored and time-tested societal mores, he’s gained a foothold that will eventually turn into a stronghold and finally, become a stranglehold. On the contrary, if we rigorously adhere to the guidestones and guardrails that served our forefathers so well, we will be immune to the devil’s wiles and diabolical schemes.
Builders know that a structure is only as strong and durable as its foundation… and the United States is no different. Chop away at our twin pillars – the Bible and the Constitution – and the “American house” will collapse upon itself, sooner rather than later.
My friend, it is time to get back to basics in America. There is only one source of truth and that is God’s Holy Word (John 17:17). Let’s start teaching it in our schools and preaching it in our churches. Most of all, let’s start living it “out loud” in our lives for everyone to see and emulate (Matthew 5:16).
“For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” I Corinthians 3:11 (NKJV)
