Please Join Me for Breakfast

“Friends are a man’s priceless treasures, and a life rich in friendship is full indeed.” – Bobby Jones
Every Tuesday morning, I roll out of bed, shower and dress, and head off to a very important breakfast meeting. With whom am I meeting? A high-ranking government official or a potential donor to my ministry?
Nope.
My breakfast companions are men named Steve, John, Tim, Nick, and another Steve. John and Tim are retired, an educator and a dentist, respectively. I have known the two Steves since I first moved to Vero Beach 15 years ago, and Nick is a relatively new acquaintance.
They are Christian men and they are my friends.
We gather on Tuesday mornings not to eat – although the food at the Roadside Restaurant is excellent – but for fellowship, prayer, and mutual accountability. This small group has been meeting for more than 10 years now and shows no signs of slowing down.
My friend, do you have a circle of friends that you meet with on a regular basis? People who care about you and with whom you can be 100% transparent? If not, I strongly encourage you to find a few and start getting together once a week or once a month. Make it part of your regular routine, as much as brushing your teeth and combing your hair.
And yes, reading your Bible and spending quality time in prayer.
“As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17 (BSB)
“A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24 (NKJV)
