Lucifer Is the Biggest Loser in History

One encourages you to rely on your own limited strength…. and the other calls you to recognize that without God’s help, it is impossible to overcome something that has corrupted you (sin) or enslaved you (an addiction).

One is characterized by arrogance and pride, whereas the other is clothed in humility and faith.

The former approach always fails, because its author is Lucifer, the biggest loser in history. He had it made, abiding in heaven in God’s presence along with the other angels. However, he took one too many looks in the mirror, fell in love with his own reflection, and led a rebellion that was doomed from the beginning. Now, he and his demons await their final judgment, passing their time trying to deceive as many people as possible to believe their pack of lies.

“I will be like the Most High,” Lucifer told himself before his fall (see Isaiah 14:14).

“You will be like God,” the serpent whispered to Eve in the Garden of Eden (see Genesis 3:5).

Both were lies, straight from the pit of hell, which is exactly where Satan and his demons will be spending eternity in the not-too-distant future.

However, in the meantime, Satan is still his spinning his sordid tales for anyone willing to listen and foolish enough to believe them. One of his favorite falsehoods is “You can have your best life now” and “God wants everyone to be healthy and wealthy”. The truth is that, as a believer, your best life happens after you die, not before. And no, God doesn’t necessarily want everybody to be healthy and wealthy, because He is far more concerned with your spiritual wellbeing than your physical or financial condition (although He cares about them, too). Remember, His thoughts and His ways are higher than ours (see Isaiah 55:8-9); so don’t let the devil – or one of his earthly mouthpieces – try to convince you otherwise.
