God Paid Top Dollar for You

“The price was paid in open court, and the Church is the Lord’s estate forever.” – C.H. Spurgeon

Imagine, if you will, a piece of property going up for sale. Because it sits adjacent to a junkyard and there is a toxic waste dump just down the street, no one has ever inquired about it let alone made an offer. And so, the desperate property owner puts the land up for auction.

At the auction, all the chairs are empty but one. The lone attendee looks around and realizes that he can buy the property for the starting bid of just $1. And so, when the auctioneer raises his gavel and declares the bidding to be open, the only interested party in the room raises his hand.

“Your bid, sir?” asks the auctioneer, prepared to sell the lot for a single dollar.

“$100 million dollars,” says the bidder matter-of-factly.

The auctioneer is amazed at the offer, thinking that the soon-to-be owner has overpaid by $999,999. However, with no other bids on the table, he brings down his gavel and shouts “SOLD!”

My friend, the world may have led you to believe that you are worthless and that your life has no earthly or eternal value. However, God believes otherwise. After all, He is the One who created you and He alone knows your full potential. And so, He offered the highest bid possible – His only Son’s life – to purchase you from the slavery block of sin.

And now you are His… forever and ever and ever.

Not only His possession, but also His child, adopted into His family and granted all the rights and privileges thereof.

Never let anyone look down on you or tell you that you lack importance or purpose. On the contrary, God paid top dollar for you!

“For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” I Corinthians 6:20 (NKJV)
