“Childlike worship creates very mature Christians.” – Rev. Dave Goodrum

Two of the earliest songs I learned were these…

Jesus loves me, this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak but He is strong
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so

And…

Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world
Red and yellow, black and white
They are precious in His sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world

Why does Jesus love little children so much? Well, because they are created in His image and likeness (Genesis 1:26). But perhaps more importantly, because they accept His teachings and His truth at face value.

Somewhere along the way, as we grow into adulthood, we start questioning God and His Word. We look at the plan of salvation and say to ourselves, “It can’t possibly be that simple.” And so, we try adding our own righteousness here or our good works there and complicate matters… or ruin them altogether.

Far better to return to our first love (Revelation 2:4-5) and start loving and trusting Jesus like a kid again.

“But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.’” Matthew 19:14 (NKJV)

“Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.” Matthew 18:1-5 (NKJV)
