The Hole in Sara Gilbert's Heart

“Man has two great spiritual needs. One is for forgiveness. The other is for goodness.” – Billy Graham
Do you get the Parade magazine supplement in your Sunday newspaper? We do, and a recent “celebrity interview” by Walter Scott caught my attention. His subject was Sara Gilbert, who plays Darlene Conner on ABS’s sitcom, The Conners.
I have never seen The Conners and rarely tuned in to its predecessor, Roseanne, starring Roseanne Barr. I also never watched The Talk, a daytime talk show that Gilbert produced and co-hosted for nine seasons. So, what I know about Sara Gilbert could probably fit into a thimble.
However, after reading her interview with Walter Scott, I can say with absolute certainty that Sara Gilbert has a hole in her heart and she is looking for ways to fill it.
When asked, “What is missing in your life?” Gilbert didn’t pull any punches. “What I don’t have enough of is spiritual connection, more creativity, more peace of mind. This is my moment to try to go get all of that.”
I am praying for Sara Gilbert and invite you to do likewise. To her credit, she is aware of her spiritual inadequacy and isn’t afraid to admit it. Sadly, she has tried to fill that void with fame, fortune and a same-sex marriage.
My prayer is that Gilbert will someday understand that inner peace isn’t something you pursue. On the contrary, you pursue Christ and He grants you inner peace.
“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27 (NKJV)
