Go For It!

“I think we should live life to the hilt and not be so cautious. I trust in the Lord and no that doesn't mean I'll jump off a cliff, at least not without a parachute. I don't want to live my life in fear of the "what if" demons. It drives some of my more conservative friends bonkers at times, but life is short and a little adventure to get the old heart pumping is good.” – Bob Williamson
I couldn’t agree more with my friend, Bob Williamson. Although our upbringings couldn’t have been any more different and our bank account balances more dissimilar, in some ways Bob and I are cut out of the same cloth. If I could “list and lump” those similarities into three categories it would be as follows…
1. We both have a deep faith in God and His sovereignty and try to put Him first in every area of our lives.
2. We both love our families deeply, would do anything for them, and count them as our greatest treasures.
3. We both are dreamers who aren’t afraid to take risks in life.
Bob’s risk taking has led him to build 15 different companies, all of them successful, and launch a worldwide ministry called The Jesus Alliance. Check it out at www.thejesusalliance.org. Mine has led me into full-time ministry and the privilege of sharing the gospel with an estimated 500,000 inmates across the world.
What risk is God calling you to take? While you are contemplating that question, I encourage you to read Hebrews 11 and picture your name amongst those “Risk Takers for Christ.”
Experience has taught me that if you do #1 and #2 on the above list, any risk you take for God will turn out just fine. Go for it!
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen…But without faith it is impossible to please Him…” Hebrews 11:1 & 6 (NKJV)
