"Send me what You will, my God, as long as it comes from You; there never was a poor portion that came from Your table to any of Your children." – C.H. Spurgeon
After church last week, Deanna hinted that she’d like to go out for lunch and so we did. We originally planned to go to Ruby Tuesday’s, because she had a gift card, but decided to go there another time when we also had a coupon or they were running a BOGO special. Yep, that’s what people in full-time ministry do, always watching the pennies!
Anyway, we settled on a local diner and by the time the waitress stopped by our table to take our order, I had narrowed my choice down to two options: creamed chipped beef or a tuna melt. Very unsimilar items, I know, but two of my favorites. The waitress recommended the tuna melt, so I took her suggestion… and it was delicious.
Today’s quote by Charles Spurgeon reminded me of that episode, because no matter what is on God’s “menu” for your life, it will most definitely satisfy your soul. He created you for a specific purpose and so, He knows exactly what you hunger and thirst for. Good luck trying to satisfy your spiritual appetite anywhere else.
Better to trust God to select the “main entrees” in your life including your career, your spouse, your home, etc. He may just throw in your favorite dessert for good measure.
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalm 34:8 (NKJV)
